Joey started in his father's transmission shop in 1982, opened his own shop in New Jersey in 1997, and brought the trade west to Apache Junction in 2016 as Total Automotive & Performance. His son Trent is now his business partner and works beside him in the shop, carrying the family trade into its third generation.
Joey and Trent work on daily drivers, diesel work trucks, classics, and custom projects, while Jenny helps keep the family business moving. The process is simple: inspect the vehicle, explain what they find, and get approval before the repair moves ahead.

Brought my 2016 Buick Regal in for what I thought was a transmission issue. The team at Total Automotive & Performance found it was actually a fuel pressure issue. They gave me a full breakdown on the readings they were getting while performing the diagnostics and explained how and why it was driving the way it was. SHOUT OUT to Big Joey and Trent down at Total Automotive & Performance. I came in with a leaking exhaust manifold that I just had done at a different shop, along with some coolant return lines to the turbo and a gasket at the block the previous mechanic just rallied. Trent took charge, got it fixed, and completely eliminated all the leaks. I thought I needed major work on my brakes and chassis, but they were incredibly honest, took the time to show me exactly what was going on, and saved me a ton of money by only doing what I wanted done. They come with options on fixes and keep a fast, open, clear line of comms. When I need a shop or give a recommendation, it won't be anywhere but Total Automotive & Performance.

We handle routine maintenance, brakes, A/C, diagnostics, transmission and driveline work, engine repair, diesel trucks, classic cars, and performance projects. Call with the year, make, and model so we can confirm the job is a good fit for the shop.
03Do you offer any kind of warranty on your work?
Warranty coverage depends on the repair and the parts used. We will explain the coverage that applies to your job before you approve it, including any manufacturer or JASPER warranty involved.
04Will I know the cost before you start?
We inspect and diagnose the vehicle, explain what we found, and give you an estimate before repair work begins. If the job changes after disassembly or further testing, we contact you before moving ahead.
